Dr Seuss Week Activities for Elementary Students

Using Dr. Seuss book companion worksheets is a fun and effective way to engage students in phonics and literacy learning, while fostering a love of children’s literature!

Begin by placing a book in a surprise bag and having students guess the title of the book! Give them the author’s name and depending on the students’ age, another clue.

Read the the book aloud to the class. Ask before – during – after reading questions to build reading comprehension skills and then invite students to come up with a different ending to the story!

Foster text connections and ask your students what the story reminds them of – do they make connections to their everyday life or experiences?

Print the worksheets either one by one or in booklet form for students to work at their own pace – or as an early finisher activity.
