Use flashcards: Create flashcards for each sight word for students to practice reading aloud, playing games such as “memory” or “go fish” or “kaboom sight words”. Display flashcards on a word wall so students have a reference point during writing activities.
Use repetition by providing students with a range of worksheets: Practicing sight words and high frequency words helps to reinforce learning.
Use visual aids: Use pictures or illustrations to help your child associate the sight word with its meaning. For example, you can show a picture of a cat alongside the word “cat.”
Practice in context: Have your child practice reading the sight words in the context of a sentence or story. This helps them understand how the word is used in real-life situations.
