Fun Music Worksheets for Elementary Students
Not all worksheets are boring, they can actually be very fun and provide variety in the music classroom setting!
Music worksheets are a valuable resource in elementary classrooms and when used well, will engage students in music education and help consolidate previously taught concepts.
The key is to use music worksheets or graphic organizers as a supplement to music lessons. For example, set up an elementary music center which is worksheet based with an intentional learning objective – can be note recognition, rhythm, instrument identification or music theory.
Music worksheets can also be used for assessment in terms of gathering data on students’ understanding and proficiency in music.
What I love about creating worksheets, is that I can meet the diverse needs and abilities of my students by tweaking the learning objective. I don’t mean having a variety of the one worksheet (because let’s face it, who has the time for that?!) I mean tweaking the student outcome – eg. drawing and labelling versus writing a caption, sentence or paragraph.
