So how do you write professional and succinct report card comments for students in reading, writing, math and general?
Here is my 5 step formula:
- Use positive language – begin with one positive student achievement in this learning area?
- Mention the student’s effort
- Write about an evident strength that this student shows or has achieved this semester or year
- Next, write about one aspect that the student needs to improve on and state how it can be improved on (make it their goal)
- Finish on a positive note to empower both student and parents
