Science of Reading Phonics Assessment Fluency Grids
Have you ever used Phonics Fluency Grids in your ELA classroom?
I read about them years ago and didn’t think much of it until I gave it a go and have not looked back!
I can’t imagine starting my phonics unit with anything else. Fluency Grids are effective science of reading
phonics activities that promote orthographic mapping that helps students to visually recognize a word and
and make connections to its oral sound (phonological awareness). So it’s a pretty important step in
both pre and post assessment when it comes to phonics progress monitoring of our students!
The great thing is, Phonics Fluency Grids can also be printed for phonics intervention, morning work phonics
practice worksheets, partner or small group games such as Phonics Bingo, Phonics Memory Game and much more.
